Trade and Investment Officer Position

One of our clients, a Foreign Trade and Investment Agency in Johannesburg is looking for an efficient, dynamic and enthusiastic Trade and Investment Officer to reinforce its office.  Our client offers service in South Africa and neighbouring countries, attracting and stimulating foreign investment and trade by assisting the companies that would like to invest in Southern Africa to connect, engage, initiate and conduct their export endeavours or open offices trading in Southern Africa. Countries covered in the Southern Africa region are South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Malawi, Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion, Mayotte.

Office based in Bryanston with the possibility of Hybrid work

Ideal for a French-speaking individual, however not limited to this language.

Salary:  Between R30K – R40K depending your experience

 

You need a minimum of:

  •  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, International Trade, Marketing & Communication or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ready to learn the unique administrative context of this European country, including its institutional framework and government competencies.
  •   Knowledge of the local and regional economies in Southern Africa.
  • Strong social, networking and communicative skills.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong collaboration skills
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating meetings and events.
  • The Trade & Investment Officer needs to be able to work with multilingual and multicultural teams to organize events in different languages and cultural contexts.
  • Proficient speaking and writing skills in English is required. Proficiency in French is highly valued.

 

Essential Experience:

  •  Support this European Country’s companies in organizing their business trip to the jurisdiction.
  • Study the local markets and approach potential business partners for this European country’s companies.
  • Prepare market studies and follow trends in specific sectors.
  • Organize seminars, trade shows and webinars to promote Belgium, and inform Belgian companies on business climate and opportunities across the jurisdiction.
  • Promote this Country as an investment destination and identify potential investors.
  • Grow and maintain a network of contacts in our area with Chambers of Commerce, business associations, universities and research centres, and top companies.
  • Manage our database through Salesforce and communication through social networks.
  • Help in Administrative tasks necessary for the smooth running of the office.
  • During the absence of the Trade and Investment Counsellor, guarantee the continuity of the office and its activities.
