Head: Internal Quality Assurance Position

Our client in the Education sector is looking to recruit a Head of Internal Quality Assurance to take ownership of the registration of the institution and ensuring the continued accreditation of new and existing programmes with CHE and registration with DHET and SAQA.

Minimum Requirements: 

The successful applicant will meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of a relevant qualification preferably a Masters Degree in Education.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the tertiary education regulatory environment
  • A good understanding of regulatory bodies and registration and accreditation processes

 

Ideal Competencies:

The successful applicant will have the following competencies:

  • Knowledge of the Higher Education environment (local and international).
  • Familiar with quality assurance processes and data analysis and
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with regulatory bodies, faculty members and
  • Knowledge of the eLearning environment and blended learning.

 

Duties:

The Head: Internal Quality Assurance will form part of the Faculty Management Team responsible for and focusing on the relevant administration tasks and processes to ensure the registration of the institution as well as continued accreditation of new and existing programmes with CHE and registration with DHET and SAQA. This will include the continued development, implementation and evaluation of institutional quality processes, in line with regulatory guidelines.

 

Policy Development and review

  • Communicate and liaise with internal stakeholders guiding them in the interpretation and application of policies and related processes
  • Assist in the development of new
  • Update the process for the review of
  • Assist with the approval process of new and reviewed
  • Ensure the effective implementation of new
  • Action the implementation of changes / reviews of policies.

 

Internal Quality Assurance audits:

  • Provide administrative support to the institution during Programme Reviews and Institutional Audits.
  • Ensure that evidence / data is electronically available, accessible and usable for internal stakeholders and Institutional Audits.
  • Assist with the planning and logistics for Internal Institutional Audits and CHE Institutional Audits/Evaluations.
  • Assist with the implementation of the QAF.

 

Internal Quality Assurance:

  • Lead in the development of quality assurance, assessment, learning and teaching as well as programme specific procedures across the institution and operational departments where applicable.
  • Maintain and enhance quality standards and procedures and inform faculty, support staff and management of quality issues and solutions.
  • Consistently monitor and report on quality

 

Development of new programmes and re-accreditation

  • Liaise with Deans, Heads and Faculty staff on the development of new programmes and reaccreditation of existing programmes.
  • Initiate an orientation meeting with responsible staff to discuss processes and develop a project plan.
  • Assist with the approval of programme through governance structures.
  • Ensure the completion of the application forms and attachments inclusive of quality assurance actions.
  • Table final application at committees and table feedback at Academic Board before submission.
  • Finalise submission and discuss and prepare feedback as requested by regulatory bodies when required.

 

Academic operations and administration

  • Act as the Chair of the Programmes
  • Serve as a member of the Academic Executive Committee (AEC).
  • Assure the promotion of quality across teaching, learning, programmes, research and assessments by serving as a committee member where applicable.
  • Assist with Academic Board Minutes.
  • Assist with RPL processes when required.
